x=arcsin y

Every equation has a sound.

x=arcsin y is a music project. Each track takes one equation and lets it drive the part you remember.

Math × Music × Code × AI = Math Sound

How a track gets made

  1. An equation gets picked.A square wave's Fourier series, the digits of π, a chaotic map. It has to be able to do something you can hear.
  2. AI composes the track and writes the code.Melody, chords, drums, form, mix.
  3. The code calculates every sample. No recordings, no sample packs, no human voice. The choirs, accordions and whistles are arithmetic too.
  4. A person listens.Naru Kijima listens and decides what stays. Passing technical checks doesn't count as finished. Being worth hearing does.

What an equation does, and doesn't

An equation doesn't write a whole track. On each track page you'll see what the equation decides and what was composed, side by side. In 1/x it's the falling whistle. In 3.14159 it's how many times the hi-hat strikes in each beat.

The name

The label is y=sin(x), the sine wave that every sound here can be built from. The artist is its inverse, x=arcsin y: going from the sound back to the formula.

Sheet music

Every track's notes are public under Scores. Press play and the page follows along.

Made with AI

This music is made with AI, and we say so: it's declared to our distributor and labeled on our social posts. x=arcsin y is a project name, not a person. Production credit goes to Naru Kijima.

Using the music

Put a track in your videos and posts. You don't need to ask. Platforms may run ads on those videos automatically, because the album is registered with their audio matching systems. Remixes and sampling aren't allowed. The details are in the terms.

Questions

Can I use a track in my video?
Yes, without asking, personal or business. Credit is welcome, not required. On TikTok and Instagram, add it from the app's music library.
Why did my video get a copyright claim?
Audio matching found the track. Ads may run on the video, and the earnings may go to the rights holder. If it causes a problem, write to us with the link.
Can I play the scores?
Yes, including on video.
Can I remix it or sample it?
No. The album is registered with Content ID, which doesn't allow that. The equations are free for anyone, so you can always make your own sound from them.
Can I use it in a game, an app, a film or a paid ad?
Write first.
